BC Race Cars Inc is thrilled to have signed its best driver line-up in any season of professional racing for the 2016 SCCA Pro Trans-Am series. So here they are, in no particular order:
Jordan Bernloehr
Jordan cut his teeth in pro racing last year by driving our house car, the #07 BCR/Miller Oils Camaro in the TA2 class. He competed in a number of select events, basically learning the tracks and the nuances of these full size racing machines. At age 17, he was incredibly quick at all the tracks, but lacked the experience of set-up, race craft and some simple tasks like shifting a dog box. He learnt quickly and in the season finale had a best 5th place finish, turning some of the fastest laps of the race towards the end. The combination of his natural talent, experience and smarts should propel Jordan into a consistent top 5 placement and a championship contender!
Allan Lewis
Allan’s TA car is perhaps the best example of BCR’s fabrication skills, and we sure are glad he is back to help us showcase that beautiful Corvette in the TA class. Since its build in 2012, Allan has competed in 3-4 Trans-Am events every season, time and budget dependent, and 2016 will be no different. With some tweaking, and more seat time, we are looking to improve on some top 10 finishes!
Mike McGahern
Long time friend and driver Mike will return to pilot his #48 Ottawa Solar Power/BCR Camaro, also in the TA2 class. Mike had to take some time away from racing in the last couple of years, which meant we fell behind in the development of his car. He competed in a number of select Trans-Am events in 2015, slowly improving the equipment and gaining valuable experience at some new tracks. We are stoked about his prospects for the 2016 season, having greatly improved the car and driver!
Harry Steenbakkers
Another young gun, Harry has proven to be the “real deal”! His first ever TA2 race came just a few days after his 16th birthday, piloting our #07 house car and finishing 5th at Mosport International Raceway, which he followed up with another incredible run at Mid-Ohio in 2014. For 2016, he is back in Trans-Am, piloting the #78 Calabogie/Powersport/BCR TA2 Camaro. Harry has proven to be incredibly quick, not just in races but in testing, and has established himself as an excellent test driver, providing great feedback and consistent performance. We are definitely looking to him to help push the team to the next level and provide the inter-team rivalry to propel all our drivers to new heights!
