One Weekend; Two Championships for BC Race Cars

The final weekend of the Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs – Ontario Region (CASC-OR) Pirelli Super Touring GT Sprints came down to numbers. BC Race Cars had a mathematical chance to clinch championships in both GT1 and GTU—and we did it!

Two championships in the same year. A first for BC Race Cars!

Sean Grosman, behind the wheel of his #29 Corvette, wasn’t in championship contention, but he still had a fantastic weekend. Just two weeks after a major crash, the BCR crew worked hard to get the Corvette repaired and back to its former glory.

Sean needed a little time to rebuild his confidence, but by the final race he was back in form. Starting near the back of the field, he charged forward to a well-deserved 7th-place finish.

In GTU, Leroy Micallef once again delivered a flawless performance in our #40 “cheap rental.” We couldn’t be prouder of this championship. The car is down at least 100 horsepower compared with many of its competitors, but Leroy’s consistency and determination made the difference.

Across 18 races, plus countless practice, qualifying and testing sessions, the #40 suffered just one DNF—a true testament to Leroy’s driving and the preparation and reliability of the entire BCR crew.

And then there was GT1.

After missing the entire first race weekend, Blaise Csida never expected the GT1 championship to be within reach. But the #10 Super TA2 Camry proved that reliability can be just as important as outright speed. Despite competing against some faster cars and very talented drivers, the Camry kept delivering the results we needed.

Somehow, we pulled it off.

Two championships. One weekend. Our first-ever multiple-championship season.

We’re already looking ahead to next year, with upgrades planned and plenty of work to sort out the very tricky #10 platform and make it even faster.

A huge thank-you to our incredible crew, led by Zac Mahoney:

Daryl Horner,  Kevin Jones, Luke Galvin, Martin Lee, Mike Nelson, Norm Wallace, Broc Wolff, Ethan Plasko, Wally Wilson and Susan Micallef.

None of this would be possible without you guys. Two championships belong to the entire BCR team!

What a way to finish the season! 🏆🏆
