Incredible weather marked the 11th round of the Trans-Am TA2 championship at Virginia International Raceway, with BC Race Cars running our regular drivers, Barry Boes and Misha Goikhberg.
Our testing sessions were less than stellar, despite having tested at this track in August. Both cars were struggling with rear security, and the short sessions did not aid in rectifying our issues. Added to our struggles were a blown transmission on Barry’s car and heavy front end damage on Misha’s. But as usual, the BCR crew had everything repaired in time for the next session.
The #32 Acciodata BCR Camaro was excellent in qualifying, and Barry put in his best ever lap at VIR to qualify 14th of 34 cars, quite an accomplishment. Misha was right behind him in 15th, but his balance was less than ideal, so we still had some work to do.
Both cars came alive in the race, Misha eventually finishing 8th. We felt we could have achieved a top 5 had we qualified better and the race worked out differently. Barry was equally fast, and worked up to a top 10 before an unfortunate spin dropped him back, eventually finishing 23rd. Off to the season finale at COTA in a few weeks time.
