It was the best and the worst of times at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park(Mosport). Beautiful weather with a clear forecast had all of us excited about a great finish to the season.
James MacLean in the #07 ran incredible fast all day Friday, lapping in the low 22’s despite being on old, old tires. Unfortunately, some engine issues developed late Friday that even the BCR crew could not resolve so he had to retire for the weekend.
Leroy Micallef was the hero Saturday, qualifying 1st with a personal best of 1:20.4. He fairly easily won the first race Saturday and was looking forward to a clean sweep, but during Sunday’s mroning race a minor mistake put him in the wall at Turn 2. A very unfortunate way to end an otherwise great season.
Our # 141 ASA Rental stock car ran great, won the last two races but not without issues. We had to borrow a driveshaft from a competitor as ours broke. Despite some lingering vibrations at high speed, the car achieved a new lap record of 1:21.0 around CTMP, and won the last two races, but not without a good fight from Mark Busscher and Rocco Marciello.
