Another great event at Shannonville Motorsport Park for Round 2 of the Pirelli Super Touring Ontario Championship.
BC Race Cars had three cars competing this weekend: two in GT1 and one in GTU, driven by Leroy Micallef.
Misha Goikhberg wanted to campaign the TA2 Super Camry once again, and I certainly didn’t want to sit out another round—especially at my favorite track. We dug out our last remaining TA2 car and quickly prepared it for competition.
Friday’s test day provided fantastic track time, and we accomplished a great deal with all three cars. Traction was very limited throughout the day, so we spent much of our time trying to settle the cars down and find grip.
Saturday qualifying proved interesting. Misha elected to run on used tires, while yours truly bolted on a fresh set of stickers. As a result, the times were much closer than expected, although Misha still secured pole position. Leroy, also on fresh rubber, recorded a breakout lap, fortunately without consequence as breakouts had been suspended for the weekend.
All three races were relatively uneventful for Misha and Blaise Csida, as we secured 1–2 finishes in each event. Leroy, on the other hand, had his hands full. Having not raced at Shannonville in more than 20 years—and never having driven the Long Track configuration—he was still learning throughout the weekend. He put together some fantastic racing performances in all three sprint races and was rewarded with a well-deserved third-place finish in the final race.
Thanks to the crew for all that you do for us!
Be sure to watch a lap with Misha from Saturday’s race on the Pro configuration.
