FINAL 2021 Club Race Report- BC Race Cars

In what seemed like a very short season, the Ontario Pirelli GT Championships came to end with the final round at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. The GT-1/GT-2 field has become one of the premier leagues in club racing with big fields and awesome competition, and BCR is proud to be part of and supporting many of our competitors with our services.

Unfortunately this season we could not fight for the overall Championship, only having cars available for less than 2/3 of the points generating sessions, but we achieved some new heights. Running our old ASA stock car this weekend, we established a new record for this car at 1:20.86, taking pole. The car is a testament to our incredible mechanics and engineering skills in making this old, simple car run at the front of GT-1 against much more expensive and advanced equipment.

In race one, starting from pole, we lost the lead early and took a solid second, under almost perfect conditions. Race 2 Sunday was anything but perfect as far as the weather. Foggy, and slightly misting, the track was essentially wet, and we all chose rain tires. We had an awesome race with Dan Cochrane’s machine, he seems to be the master in the wet, and taught us a lot about driving in the rain! Thanks Dan!

Started the last race in second again, track was dry but not as fast as the day before. We got into the lead early and put in qualifying laps to stay ahead of Jim Beaton’s Grand-Am Corvette for the race win. Thanks to our crew, Mike Nelson and Zac Mahoney for doing another great job all weekend!

This ASA stock car is available for funded drivers next season, either for the Ontario Pirelli GT series, VARAC, or SVRA in the USA. Please contact Blaise for pricing and details.
