With two cars running at our home track, CTMP, BC Race Cars was set for a great weekend! Beautiful weather, and tons of loyal fans marked the return of Trans-Am to this iconic circuit.
In the Pro National class, we dominated testing (P1, P4, P1), but the other big teams caught up quickly. In qualifying we made the mistake of aiming for the 3rd lap as our flyer, and Josh Hurley in our #20 BCR Mustang was held up badly. Shame, telemetry showed we were fast enough for a top 3 start.
Starting 7th was extremely disappointing as we know this track is very difficult to pass on in equal cars. Josh made some incredible moves at the start and thru traffic to make it up to 5th but we could not get past 4th, even though we had better pace.
Our #10 BCR Mustang was driven by Leroy Micallef in the Pro-Am class, a local driver, for whom this was a bucket list event. He hasn’t driven a race car since last fall, so just getting up to speed was a challenge. He drove a smart race, avoiding a major crash in T8 (thank you), but had to pit to check the car after the wild ride thru the grass. We dropped to the back, but Leroy made it all the way up to 5th , the highest finishing Canadian.
Many thanks to the great crew of BCR, both cars were flawless again for the weekend.
