BC Race Cars was proud to hit the grid for the inaugural Markham Indy with our #24 NASCAR Canada Cathcart Trucking Mustang, with Jared Odrick behind the wheel.
A huge thank you to our new sponsors Vagus Clinic, MWS HVAC Services, and Defined Designs for joining us this weekend!
With just three days to repair the car after Trois-Rivières, the BCR crew went to work. Zac Mahoney also put his sim expertise to work, programming an accurate car so we could evaluate gearing and give Jared valuable seat time. The preparation paid off.
With limited practice and qualifying time, Jared was quickly up to speed and put the #24 10th on the grid!
The crew then worked overtime repairing a leaking cracked rear-end housing, cracked bellhousing, and blown clutch slave cylinder—on top of the usual race prep. They got it all done, and the Mustang performed flawlessly.
Jared battled back after losing a few spots at the start, showing great speed on the tight Markham circuit. Some hard, fair racing with DJ Kennington kept things exciting, and on the final restart Jared made some great moves to climb into 5th.
Then, with just two laps to go, disaster struck. The #24 was recklessly punted from behind, forcing Jared to restart the car and salvage a 14th-place finish.
A heartbreaking result after such a strong weekend. We know what we had—a top-five car and a driver who was on fire.
Huge thanks to the entire BCR crew, Jared, and all of our sponsors for an incredible effort!
Next up: Pirelli GT Sprints, followed by NASCAR Canada at ICAR!
