BC Racecars participated with one entry, campaigning our #10 TA2 Camaro with driver Misha Goikhberg in round four of the SCCA Pro Trans-Am series. It was a tricky weekend with cold temperatures and lots of rain, making fine-tuning of our set-up very challenging.
But all was going well, we had a killer rain set-up, ending up 2nd in a full wet test session. The official practise was completely dry and the car had decent pace, just needed some adjustments. Qualifying is where things went wrong for our team: the planned 15 minute session was extended to 20 minutes as the cars rolled out on to the track, we did not have the fuel or the tires for the additional 5 minutes. We were in P2 at the 14 minute mark, but ended up 10th as many cars went faster on a drying track during the extended period. Very disappointing, as passing is nearly impossible at this track.
We had great race pace, and Misha executed a great drive, moving up to 6th. We should be happy, but we knew we had podium pace so the results do not reflect our potential.
We want to thank fellow competitor Tom Sheehan and his crew, who hosted us under their tent all weekend. They were fantastic to hang out with, and further cemented our friendship. Many thanks guys.
Watch a difficult pass for 6th position during the race:
