Success for BCR at Season Opener

Finally, we were back racing in the Ontario Pirelli GT Sprints, our season opener at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park was fun and successful! BCR had 4 cars entered, one barely made it with a last minute engine installation Thursday night.

Our #82 ASA stock car was driven by Leroy Micallef, who was new to tube chassis cars and dog box transmissions, but learnt incredibly fast. With the aid of telemetry and video, Leroy quickly got up to speed, turning very quick times Friday afternoon in practise. He continued his great drives thru wet and dry conditions, and only to be denied a podium finish by a 0.2 second break-out!

Rob Martin also had a very successful weekend, until Sunday’s race when the car made contact with Turn 9 wall. Luckily Rob is OK, car will be repaired. We were all excited how fast the new set-up and engine were, he was fighting for podium in GT1.

Our new #120 TA2 Camaro started last on Sunday’s first race and made it up to second, a full course yellow in the last part of the race preventing an exciting finish trying to catch the leader. The car was not handling well, so many changes were made for the final race. Unfortunately, we went the wrong way, but the car still had enough to take the win!

Mark Busscher in his #48 TA2 Camaro also had a great weekend, matching his best ever lap time with the new set-up and spare engine. After numerous battles, he finished on the podium in 3rd place! Well done Mark.

We are off to Mt. Tremblant for the Summer Classic, where our #120 is entered to compete in the GT Series. Report to follow.
