BC Race Cars was proud to field two cars at Road Atlanta in the SCCA Trans-Am TA2 National Series. It was the third race weekend of the “southern tour” in 6 weeks. Quite tiring for the cars and crew.
Both cars were in the range for set-up, but never quite at the top of the charts. Misha qualified a disappointing 12th, 5-13 being separated by half a second. The shortened qualifying session also hurt Barry Boes in the sister car, not being able to get the best out of the car, resulting in a 19th starting position out of the 37 cars entered.
The race was even more difficult; rain off and on all morning had the BCR crew switching set-ups from dry to wet, and back from wet to dry. The track was extremely wet but without additional rain in the forecast, the call was made to switch the cars to dry tires, while they were staged. With only moments to spare, both cars got the tire swap done. Great work guys!
Under very difficult initial conditions, the race started and was surprisingly trouble free, everyone respecting the challenge. Both cars had a solid race, Barry finishing in 15th with a steady, solid drive.
Misha had an awesome drive, moving up 6 spots with some very brave moves on a drying track. 6th was better than we predicted. Well done Misha!
