TA2 Road Atlanta Report

BC Race Cars was fortunate to have been able to participate in round 2 of the SCCA Pro Trans-Am TA2 at Road Atlanta. Border restrictions meant a limited crew and only running one car, the #10 of Misha Goikhberg.

 Despite alarming weather forecasts, we were spared any wet track conditions, all of our running was in the dry, not that we wouldn’t enjoy a wet race now and then. The field was extremely tight throughout all the tests and practise sessions, but of course we don’t know each other’s fuel load or tire selection. We were all awaiting qualifying, when everybody shows their hand.

Qualifying did not disappoint! We missed pole by 0.312 seconds, and that was only good for 7^th place! An incredibly close field, and a testament to the talent level of the top drivers, teams and Trans-Am technical department.

The race was equally exciting; Misha spun early on and dropped to 11^th position. On a track that is notoriously difficult to pass on, he slowly and methodically worked his way back thru the field, all the way to 6^th position. He battled for 5^th place with last year’s championship winning driver, who did a masterful job of driving defensively. Misha posted some fast lap times, and we felt very satisfied with a great result.
